Valve grease

I love the concept of comunal valve grease being shared amongst us, and am conflicted about sharing the following information, so forgive me...

Yesterday I purchased another tube of "Faucet and Valve Grease" from my hardware store. You all should be able to find it in any of the "Do It" line of hardware stores. 1 fl. oz, costs $1.19, good to 350 degrees. Made by William Harvey Co. out of Omaha.

Whoa, That aint the correct grease. The one you all are about to use is for WATER valves, not GAS valves! You MUST use Gas Valve Grease. It contains high temperature lubricant and Graphite. Will be a grey to black color and be labeled for Gas Valves. The brand my rebuilder uses is TERN-EEZ (designed especially for old, used GAS Valves). I can't quote the wholesale cost, but with a little profit for me, It would be about 10 bucks a 2 oz. tube. Please get the correct grease somewhere! or risk problems later!

Well, the "communal grease" (love that!!) that I had to share is in transit, on it's way to Lowracer.

I had an unopened container that I had purchased from TOAC when I had planned to just grease my valves, then ended up sending them off to be rebuilt. So I'm happy to continue Stoveman's tradition of sending it around to whoever needs it. Mark should have the valve grease soon. Someone else asked for it after Mark but I can't find that post. Can the next person in line repost here so Mark knows where to send it when he's done?

Great!! Instructions for use are included - includes a diagram of all the parts.

Hey Tura, I guess my tube of community grease got lost in the shuffle. Good of you to share yours. Could you email me a copy of the instructions that you got from my ole buddy Jack at TOAC. Would be interesting to see what he is peddling. Thanks, Sam

Hmmm... Okay, Sam, I feel like a schmuck, pushing this steam valve goo on my Chambers pals. Sorry folks. Guess that shows this discussion board works: them that knows, crows.

Well... my B has had that steam valve goo in it for three years. Gives me a good excuse to tear it apart. Heck, it's a week til Christmas and I don't have anything better to do.
